Egg
Egg was a band which eventually found its legs after various members and attempts at songwriting. We pretty much had no skills, no equipment and no idea but we managed some decent gigs, a couple of releases and a write up in the NME (I think).

We recorded our first demo at Noisebox with Pete Morgan on his 6 track. I still have my copy. We did 4 tracks and they sounded, well, dreadful. But at the time, we had a demo and it meant the world. The guitarist at the time was Kristian Cafetzoglou and I remember listening to that demo in his car, over and over. Listening back to it now, we were clearly young and full of balls.
Unfortunately, Kristian lost his battle with Leukaemia a few years after this. To celebrate his life, and that demo, I returned to the studio with Jason and we put together a reworking of one track from that demo as it probably should have sounded if we had decent instruments, knowledge and skill. You can hear that here.

Defender/Non Blue Box
1997, Noisebox Records NBX031 green vinyl

A split 7" single on Noisebox Records with fellow Norwich noisemongers, Waddle - named after England's greatest left winger apparently.

2 tracks recorded at the long gone Purple Studios in Norwich with Mark Watson. I liked working with Mark. He didn't say a lot but he was a great engineer and loved a Ginsters pasty.
Defender, about riding your moped to the polling station and Non Blue Box, about a red phone box in Brighton.

Come on then you Bastard!

The cover simply says:

1 x 33 second tune added to this Noisebox comp. Not really sure what it is about or where it came from. Certainly recorded at Purple Studios.

Ortowmatik
1997, Rebelious Jukebox Records REB003

Our 2nd foray in to releasing material. Again for the Norwich fanzine, Totally Wired. This time on CD with 15 other Norwich bands. Sounds like we improved slightly, but not much. Potentially a song about driving an automatic car. I remember the snare broke on my drum and I had to hit it very hard to make it crack at all.

Recorded at The Forge by Kev Burton.
Tim Tyler
1996, Rebelious Jukebox Records REB002 orange vinyl

Our 1st foray in to releasing material for Totally Wired fanzine. Recorded at The Forge by Kev Burton. We didn't know how to play and I think Kev was still trying to figure out his 8 track ADAT. What is clear is that his compressor worked. Really hard!

A song about a young boy who lost his laugh.
